Course on Arranging for Wire-strung Harps

The Wire Branch will offer a short online course in the autumn, led by Bill Taylor, on ‘Principles of Arranging for Wire-strung Harps’. This will be a three-session course on Saturday mornings from 10.30-12 noon. The course welcomes all players, and especially new players looking to boost their knowledge of music theory and to develop their own arranging skills. We will look at topics, such as:

Range

Chromaticism

Transposition

Harmony

Fingering

Damping

Accompaniment

Ornamentation

Variation

There will be some homework assignments, such as recording short audio files and writing music on staff notation. You need not attend the sessions on the day of the broadcast; all sessions will be recorded and videos will be available to view or download.

The three dates are: 

1 October, 10.30-12 noon UK time

29 October, 10.30-12 noon UK time

26 November , 10.30-12 noon UK time
