Member Benefits

There are many benefits to joining the Wire Branch

  • Discount on monthly workshops, now being held online via Zoom. The Wire Branch has maintained a regular series of workshops in Edinburgh since the branch was founded in 2000. These happen on Sunday afternoons, roughly each month during school term times. Workshops, taught by Bill Taylor, run 75 min. for elementary and intermediate levels. Members are invited to purchase a block of workshops at a price of £10/session. Otherwise, members pay £13 for individual sessions. The price to non-branch members is £15/session.
  • Joining two different playing groups in Scotland. Players are welcome to join the Edinburgh group, and also the new group of wire-strung players in the Highlands, called 'High-Wire'.
  • Discount on lessons with Bill Taylor, either online or in-person. The Wire Branch offers a members' discount of 1/3 off 60-min. online lessons with Bill (full cost £30) for up to 4 lessons/year.
  • Discount on attending Bill's annual October wire-strung residential course in the Highlands of £20.
  • Ability to hire a wire-strung clarsach from the Wire Branch (we have 3 available).
  • Receiving regular news updates regarding information relating to wire-strung playing: articles, diary listing of concerts and events.
  • Participation in future projects, including online courses and performances.
